Seasonal pool care for Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough

Pools in the South West go through a real seasonal swing, and the pools that stay easy to own are the ones whose routine changes with it.

Summer

Long hot days and more swimmers mean higher sanitiser demand and longer pump run times. This is the season to test weekly without fail and to keep an eye on water level as evaporation picks up.

Autumn

Leaves are the main job. Skim and empty baskets often, because organic debris sitting on the floor feeds algae and eats chlorine. A cover earns its keep here.

Winter

Run times can come back, but not to zero — water still needs to circulate and hold sanitiser. Storm rain dilutes and unbalances water, so test after heavy weather rather than assuming the pool is resting.

Spring

Get ahead of the season: full water test, filter clean or media change, equipment check and a look at heating if you want to swim earlier. A pool sorted in spring is far less work all summer.

Season change checklist

  • Adjust pump run time for the season
  • Clean or replace filter media
  • Full water test at the shop
  • Check the cover, roller and baskets
