FAQs

Pool & spa questions we get asked every week

Straight answers about pool servicing, green pools, spas, water testing and equipment — from the team at our Bunbury shop.

How often should my pool be serviced in summer?

Most of our customers find a monthly service works really well. In between visits, you’ll just need to keep an eye on the water level, scoop out any larger debris, give the pool surfaces a brush when needed, and check and empty the skimmer basket regularly. If you’d prefer to do less yourself and simply enjoy the pool, we can certainly come more often. During summer, when the pool is getting more use and the warmer weather and sunlight put more demand on the water, a fortnightly or weekly service may suit you better. Every pool and household is a little different, so we’re happy to recommend a schedule based on how you use your pool and how much maintenance you’d like to do yourself.

Do you service spas as well as pools?

Yes, we do! We service and repair spas, although what we can repair will depend on the type of spa, how it’s installed, access to the equipment, and parts availability.  **Need a spa repair?**---Start by emailing us:  * Photos of the spa and equipment  * Brand and model numbers (if available)  * A brief description of the problem  The more information you can send us, the better idea we’ll have of what we’re dealing with before we attend.  **Call-out & assessment**  If an onsite assessment is needed, we can arrange for one of our technicians to attend. If the repair can be completed within that first hour and no additional parts are required, our technician may be able to get you up and running during the same visit. If additional time, parts or a return visit are needed, we’ll let you know what’s involved before proceeding. For locations outside the Bunbury and surrounding area, an additional travel fee may apply. We’ll let you know when you book if this applies to your location. If the issue requires a licensed plumber or electrician, or falls outside the type of repairs we carry out, we’ll let you know and point you in the right direction.

Which areas do you travel to?

We service Myalup, Australind, Harvey, Collie, Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough and surrounding South West WA suburbs from our Bunbury base. If you're not sure whether you're in range, give us a call and we'll let you know.

How often should I test my pool or spa water?

Test strips at home each week will keep you on top of chlorine and pH between services. Bring a water sample into the shop about once a month for a full test, and we'll give you a clear dosing plan based on the results.

My pool has gone green — can it be saved?

Almost always. Our green pool rescue service treats the algae, cleans the pool and filter and restores water clarity. How long it takes depends on how far the pool has gone, so we assess it first and tell you what's involved. Green pool recovery usually takes multiple visits.

Does my pump or chlorinator need replacing, or can it be repaired?

We diagnose the fault before recommending anything. Plenty of faults come down to a fuse, capacitor, seal or cell that can be replaced far more cheaply than the whole unit. If replacement genuinely is the better option, we'll explain why.

Can I bring a water sample into the shop?

Yes — in-store water testing is one of the things we're best known for. Bring in a sample of your pool or spa water and we'll test it and talk you through what it needs. There's no pressure to buy anything you don't need.

Do you handle warranty work on pool and spa equipment?

We're a dealer and local warranty agent for a number of leading pool and spa brands, which means many warranty repairs can be handled locally without the need to send your equipment away.  How to Make a Warranty Claim   To help us assess your claim as quickly as possible, please email us the following info:   1. Brand and model of the equipment   2. Proof of purchase showing the purchase date   3. Photos of the equipment, including the model/serial number label where possible   4. A brief description of the problem and when it started   Once we receive this information, we'll confirm whether we are an authorised warranty agent for the brand and advise you of the next step.   Depending on the manufacturer and the type of fault, we may need to arrange an inspection or call-out before the warranty claim can be confirmed.  Please note: A warranty claim is subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms and approval. If an inspection finds that the issue is not covered under warranty, normal call-out, labour and/or parts charges may apply.  Keep Your Proof of Purchase !!! All manufacturers require proof of purchase showing when the equipment was purchased before a warranty claim can be processed. Please keep your receipt or invoice somewhere safe for future warranty purposes.

My spa isn't heating — what should I check first?

Have a look at the control panel for an error code and, if you can, check the water temperature with a thermometer. Those two details tell us a lot before we arrive, and sometimes point to something simple like a dirty filter restricting flow.

Do you look after commercial and rental property pools?

Yes. We service hotels, resorts, gyms, aquatic and recreation centres, as well as rentals and sale-ready homes for property managers and real estate agents across the South West.

Still not sure?

Give the shop a call or request a service and we'll point you in the right direction.
